Biography

Bill Jabs earned a bachelor’s in civil engineering in 1969. In 2006, he retired as CEO and president of Portland's W&H Pacific, Inc., a leading firm in aviation, transportation, and specialized engineering projects throughout the West, including sites such as the Portland International Airport, the Mt. Bachelor Ski Area, and the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem. Jabs directed the development of a new technology called the compost storm-water filter, which was selected in 1992 as an Engineering Excellence Grand Award winner from the American Consulting Engineer's Council. He has been a strong advocate for the Civil Engineering Cooperative Program (CECOP) and served as chair of the CECOP board in 2000-2001. He has been a member of the OSU College of Engineering Academy of Distinguished Engineers since its inception in 1998.
